NPP Paks in Hungary

2024-05-01

Paks II is one of the most controversial new nuclear power plant construction projects in the EU. Apart from the general problems of nuclear energy utilisation (lack of economic efficiency, risk of accidents, unresolved nuclear waste disposal, etc.), the availability of balanced information for the public is not sufficient, especially in Hungary, also due to the media landscape being in line. Another problem is Hungary’s massive dependence on Russia, which affects both the construction of Paks II and the supply of fuel for Paks I (and II) by Rosatom/TVEL.

The Joint Project partner Energiaklub posts regularly information on Paks in its blog The Paks Diaries”.
